The Water Park

We went to the water park the other day. It is super close to home, very affordable (you only have to pay for the water), has plenty of shade and grass, and babies can go naked. The kids had a blast and we have been back several times. The K Family Water Park was wonderful.

There was a pool.

A fountain.

A diving board.

Even the boy who does not like getting wet had fun.

Oooh I can fill my water bottle.

Hey where did it go?

Oh, there it is.

Hey! Come back here.

Sister to the rescue!

Look mommy, I got it back!

Michael's New Do

Michael has been asking for a mo hawk for months but has been afraid of the clippers. Tonight he asked again and actually let us do it. Madeline took some of these photos.

The Process.

Half way.

Look at all that hair.

Marah watched silently for about five minutes before she started pointing and saying "ahhhhhhhsdkjghkjasndg" Which we translated as "What are you doing to my brother?"

My silly boy.

He loves his new hair and can't wait to show his friends.
Marah likes to drive.

Check out my garden. The peas have bloomed, we have eaten so much lettuce. There is squash, zuchinni, carrots, onions, green onions, tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, basil, cilantro, strawberries, radishes, sunflowers, lots of different types of lettuce, green beans. There may be more but I am drawing a blank.

Changes

I had an appointment to get my tattoo redone today. The color was a bit faded and it needed some new life. The best part of all was Joe had all three kids and I got some time to myself.

It is pretty swollen and the yellow on the sun rays looks red in places but its not.

My new hair cut! Bad picture, Joe kept making me laugh when he took the picture so I had to do it myself. Not easy. This was the best of about 10, most with half a head in them.

Visitors in Love and the co-op

So we had visitors this week. Robbie (Joe's Brother) and Alyssa (his girlfriend) stayed with us for a few days. The kids enjoyed visiting with them.

Saw this on the patio out back and could not help but smile.

This past Wednesday was our first day of co-op. Four homeschooling/unschooling families living in Vancouver decided to form a co-op. Our kids range in age from one to eight and there are 10 kids total. We will rotate houses and meet once a week to play games, read books, and do activities about a theme. We will also have a field trip related to the theme when possible. The current theme is ants. We read a great book and played a role playing game where each kid had a "ant job". The kids had a great time playing different ants.

Here is Madeline holding one of Amoreena's chickens.

Michael was really excited to find corn in the playroom. LOL.

Even Marah enjoyed herself.

For anyone interested here are some links to unschooling. Several of you have asked about our curriculum and what are kids are learning. We are very relaxed homeschoolers maybe even unschoolers and use the world as our classroom.
Here is a website all about unschooling.
John Taylor Gatto is also a great resource for information. Linked is just one article, a google search will bring up many more.

Memory Lane

We have been organizing our photos and just had to post some of them. I cannot believe how much they have grown.

Gymnastics

The kids started gymnastics this past week. They both really like it. Michael is in a preschool class and Madeline a mini-beginning girls class. They are at the same time which is nice for me, less running around.

Cape Playdate Photos

About a month or so ago there was a "cape playdate". A local mom that makes these great capes held a playdate to get some photos for her website. Another local MDC mom (who happens to be an awesome photographer) took the photos and was kind enough to let us have access to them. The kids had an awesome time and really loved the capes. Michaels favorite was the flames and Madeline really liked the flowers. Marah, well she just kept taking hers off to chew on it.

Here are the photos.

Jam today, Gone tomorrow

We made jam. It is so yummy that even Michael (the hater of all jelly/jams) will eat it. Sadly we have gone through several jars all ready. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and we can pick more berries next week.

The process.

Mmmmmmmm. The kitchen smelled so good.

Our canner.

Finished.
